Hi, my name is Eden, I am a t54 wheelchair racer and I am fundraising for help towards a new racing wheelchair.

I have been wheelchair racing for 10 years now, and was initially inspired by Dave Weir’s performance at the London 2012 Paralympics, and watching the crowds go crazy. I knew then that I wanted to taste that success and every year I have been getting closer to achieving that dream.

I train daily and this year I have done more miles in my racing wheelchair than some people will have done in their car. This year has been a breakthrough year for me, with some notable wins and podium places at major events, both home and abroad. The pinnacle had to be the Silver Medal in the marathon at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.

In order to keep up the same level of training and compete at the top level, I now need to replace my racing wheelchair. I can push my body and mind as hard as possible, but my wheelchair is a different matter. My current racing wheelchair is now 5 years old and it is showing signs of a very hard life.  A new racing chair could mean a 3% increase in performance which would be huge for me. 

Racing wheelchairs can be extremely expensive, so it can be really hard for athletes get their own wheelchairs. I realise that my target is a lot of money, but it will make it a massive difference in helping me to achieve my goal.
