Help During Unpaid Medical Leave for Mina & Karen

Hi all, I am a friend of Karen and Mina's who cares deeply about them, and want to reach out to her community for help to assist them during these tough times. As some may be aware, currently, due to Mina's neurological illness, Karen has not been able to take work to stay home and care for Mina during this very difficult time. Mina has suffered six medical hospitalizations in the last two years and is facing more in the future as she learns more about her rare illness, and ways to combat it. In order to care for Mina after the first hospitalization, Karen took a pay cut by becoming a substitute teacher for her schedule to allow more time for Mina's care yet with fewer funds coming in. Due to their current work status, she has not been eligible for sick pay, work leave, or personal time-all attributes that would help them to stay afloat. Coupled with the grief of her father, things have hit a downward slope. Due to this, they have fallen behind in rent payments as well as other areas that help them in their day-to-day routines and livelihood. Previously refinancing her car to help with medical finances, this has also become a hardship, yet a necessary means to get to and from the hospital. Behind in rent, car refinance payments, as well as medical debt leaves little to no funds for everyday items such as food and medical expense

I am reaching out to her community to help out during this time because she has been there for everyone countless times, and now she needs us there for her. All funds collected will go towards rent, food, and the well-being of both Karen + Mina as Mina recovers from her neurological illness and Karen can return to work.
