Help Debbie gain POA over Lonnie

Hello; we are Karlee and Mitchell Bumgardner.

The amazing couple shown in the picture is our grandparents, Lonnie and Debbie Witham. They have been happily in love and married for 49 years. They are the glue that holds our entire family together and we love them so much.

Last month our grandpa ended up in the hospital with some medical issues and was then transferred to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. During his time there it was discovered that he had suffered a very intense stroke, that left him without the ability to speak correctly and affected his mental cognitive state of mind. After being in the Lutheran Rehab Hospital for several weeks he is now currently staying in a nursing home trying to regain his strength. He was also recently diagnosed with skin cancer. We are currently waiting on his biopsy results, once we get those back we will have to decide on what the best course of treatment is for him.

With that being said there are so many choices that our Meme needs to make but without having POA she legally cannot make any of them. After speaking with his doctors, they deemed him a 0 on a 15 point scale of knowing and understanding his surroundings which means that he cannot sign any legal documents to make her his guardian. Now she will have to take it to court and let a judge determine that decision for him.

Our family is trying to help take some of the financial burden off of her and raise some money to help with all of the court costs. Anything that anyone is able to donate would be so greatly appreciated and if you are not able to donate we could really use all the prayers we can get.
