Help Dawson Family Recover from House Fire

Hello everyone, I'm Megan Dawson, Tom & Candy's oldest daughter. In the very early morning of Friday, June 23 at 12:44 am, I received one of the most heart wrenching texts a daughter could receive. A text from my dad that read "Call me ASAP!!!" My mom happened to be visiting me at the time at my home in Chattanooga, TN. We dialed him immediately and that is when he informed us that our house, my childhood home, the house that my parents currently call home, was engulfed with flames. My dad said he barely made it out alive. I heard the fire trucks pulling into our driveway in the background as I talked with him on the phone, 1,000 miles away from me. I immediately got to my knees and started sobbing knowing how scared my sweet dad was in those seconds of life and death.

Our house that we spent many, many years at, is now gone forever, minus the garage (that was protected with durable firewall). My parents have nothing left. They will be completely starting over.

It breaks my heart to write this because they are the hardest working people I know. They both have a heart of gold. They will always help anyone and everyone. They have insurance, but it's a very long and tedious process. Although my mom and dad have help from my sister and I, both of their moms, and other close relatives, it is going to be an uphill battle getting back onto their feet. Any donations are so much appreciated. This will be put towards everyday necessities such as food, work clothes for my dad, clothes, pajamas, socks & shoes, personal hygiene, etc.

Although we may not understand the Good Lord's plan sometimes, we have to trust in him that there is a bigger picture that lies ahead.

Even if you can spare a minute to pray for their broken hearts as we all figure out how to navigate such a tragic loss, it is SO much appreciated!

I have thanked God a million times that my mom and dad are safe. I love them SO much! Thank you all & God bless.
