David Martin was born with what is known as Psychomotor Retardation, This syndrome involves a slowing-down of thought and a reduction of physical movements. Psychomotor retardation can cause a visible slowing of physical and emotional reactions, including speech and others.
David lives in a small island in Venezuela and as many of you may know, Venezuela's political situation is extremely difficult right now, making it impossible for David's parents to afford the required treatments, hearing exams, and motor-skill therapies, by raising this money David's parents will be able to get him the proper medical help he needs and help him overcome this syndrome as much as possible.

We want to thank from the bottom of our hearts each person that has helped, contributed and supported with the health of our son David Isaac Martin Peña, which as you already know was diagnosed with psychomotor retardation.
The doctors have been able to get a good number of studies to ensure they are looking at the root of this problem including a MRI and several others studies.
We have also been able to consult with a specialist, for which we had to travel to the capital as the doctors and necessary technology is only available there.
We have been able to see many different specialist such as: Neurologist, psychologist, physiatrist, therapist, orthopedist, otolaryngologist among others.
After all these examinations the doctors have diagnosed the root of the retardation, this includes:
• Hypotonic motor disorder
• Speaking disorder
• Motor dysfunction
The next step is to do some more lab work and therapy to get David out of this stage progressively.
