Help David McBride fight for justice and accountability for the victims of the war in Afghanistan
I was a military lawyer serving the Royal Australian Regiment and Special Forces in Afghanistan when I came across sinister information and evidence of misconduct.
Fighting against corruption is not a task most would choose, but I was in a position to do so and I did it for a better Australia. My heart and moral compass told me that it was my duty to expose the truth about the crimes against humanity in Afghanistan. As a result, I have to fight a legal battle for my life, earn a living, and make sure my family can enjoy what may be our last few months together.
While I have got my license to practise law again, which is wonderful, I am earning very little at the moment, and with my trial looming, I increasingly must prepare for the 'main game', namely fighting for justice and a better Australia. I have a military disability pension (PTSD) but this is not enough to cover both rent and living expenses for myself and two daughters. I have only survived the past year due the generosity of my friends, family and supporters. This fund is not for my legal expenses, which are covered by a different fund, just my living expenses for what is possibly my last year with my daughters before jail.
