This September, Craig Curry is being inducted into the Florida High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame in Gainesville (he is already in the CGHS Athletic Hall of Fame).

Craig Curry made history in the 1960s as the first Black quarterback at Coral Gables Senior High School in Florida. Following the court-ordered integration that led to the closure of the all-Black George Washington Carver High School, Curry chose to attend Coral Gables Senior High.

In 1966, legendary coach Nick Kotys appointed Curry as the starting quarterback—a groundbreaking decision during an era when Black quarterbacks were rare, especially in Southern high schools. Despite facing significant resistance and criticism, Kotys stood by his choice, recognizing Curry's talent and leadership.

Under Curry's leadership, the Coral Gables Cavaliers achieved a perfect 13–0 season in 1967, clinching the Florida large-school state championship. The Team's dominance led to national recognition, with the team being named "Team of the Century" by the Florida High School Athletic Association. "Craig was our Jackie Robinson," said his teammate Bertram Taylor, the school's first black running back. Curry played college football at the University of Minnesota, leading the Big Ten Conference in total offense in 1971.

However . . .

The Curry's are also very much in need of a wheelchair-accessible vehicle for daily use - and Your Reunion Committee would like you to consider sending a donation to help us provide $$ to the Curry's so they may procure one. Our Goal is to raise $48,000.00.

PLEASE HELP US With Any Possible Monetary Donation.

Thanks!
