Help Cover Expenses for Nicole's Cancer Journey

My 31-year-old sister's world was turned upside down a week ago when she was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma, a form of breast cancer. Specifically, she has grade three triple-negative breast cancer, which is very aggressive and common in younger patients.

 

We are so fortunate to have gotten appointments with a top breast cancer surgeon and oncologist at UCSF this week, and they are moving fast to get Colie started on treatment. Next week, she has surgery to place her port, and in the next two weeks, she'll get started on chemo. Chemo will last six months. Since she has been able to get treated by doctors at UCSF, she'll have to travel to their Berkeley campus for all of her treatments. She lives in Hughson, so it's quite the drive, and it's going to be incredibly difficult when she isn't feeling well.

 

I'm setting up this fundraiser because we have been so blessed to have grown up in an incredible family and community, and so many people have reached out asking how they help. This fundraiser is an easy way to help Nicole and her family with out-of-pocket expenses as she gets treatment. These expenses include things like hotel stays, meals for her family while they aren't home, and lost income from her job since she won't be able to work the same number of hours as she did previously.

 

Other ways to help are helping with meals while she's at home between chemo treatments (https://mealtrain.com/70mg61), activities to keep Harlee happy while life is a little different (think coloring books, paints, etc), and, of course praying for their family.
