On Sunday night, the Coventry Girl's Softball League Complex at Phillips Hill was vandalized. Our concession stand was broken in to, the cash register and windows were smashed. Our equipment shed's window was smashed, our only working lawn mower was destroyed. The vandals took a joy ride on our fields, into our fences, out on the rocks, then abandoned the broken lawnmower in the woods. Fences on fields 2 and 3 are damaged. They broke into our field equipment shed, destroying the door, frame, and surrounding wood exterior wall.

 

Every inch of our Phillips Hill Complex is maintained by volunteers. Since 1973, volunteers have maintained the fields, built the structures that stand today, the fields the girls play on, the bases they slide into, and the hot dogs they eat from concessions. Parents, coaches, and other volunteers pour all of their time and energy into maintaining these fields for the female athletes in our community. We have worked tremendously hard this year to fundraise as COVID stole our 2020 Spring season and had us put off building our 4th field. Now, yet again, we have to put off this endeavor due to the damage this has cost us and the obvious need for a security system.

 

We ask both our local community and softball communities, if anyone is able to help us rebuild through monetary or voluntary means, we would truly appreciate it. Everything we do within our league is for the benefit of girls in our community.
