Help Ching Yan Compete at 3 Worldwide Kendama Competitions

My name is Zack Gallagher, and I am raising money for my friend Ching Yan to be able to travel and compete at the world’s top kendama competitions in 2025:

Battle at the Border (USA)

European Kendama Championships (Netherlands)

Kendama World Cup (Japan)

I’ve known Ching Yan since 2018 when she was in her early years of kendama, but got to befriend her a lot better in 2024 as I visited Hong Kong - her home country - and we traveled to a few of the same kendama events.

Doing this fundraiser is important to me because after spending 1 week in Hong Kong with Ching Yan, I was able to see up-close just how much kendama is intertwined in her life.

Ching Yan even won the female world champion title at the Kendama World Cup in Japan this past year - finishing as the highest-ranked female player at the competition.

When I heard that she may not be able to compete at any of the top kendama competitions across the world this year, I instantly felt compelled to do something to help her.

So I am reaching out you, the kendama community & friends & family of those in the kendama community to help.

Trip Cost Breakdown

Our goal is to raise $8700, and Ching Yan has already raised $2900 outside of GoFundMe.

That leaves us with going for a $6000 goal on this platform.

✈️ Flights: $3715

Hong Kong to Nashville: $1,650

Hong Kong to Amsterdam: $1415

Hong Kong to Japan: $650 (with baggage charges - necessary because she will sponsor the event with her brand 2000s Kendama Shop)

Housing: $1950

Ching Yan will be abroad at these 3 competitions for a total of 30 days.

This amount of money will be going towards her stay at hostels, hotels, & AirBNBs during her travels.

BATB: 1/22-1/28 (7 days)

EKC: 5/28-6/6 (9 days)

KWC: 14 days (in order to get to KWC, and stay to represent Hong Kong at competitions in Japan that will follow KWC shortly after it's finished).

Transportation: $1500

This amount of money will go towards Ching Yan's transportation on her 3 international trips (bullet trains, busses, subway, uber)

This averages out to be $60 a day for transportation at BATB & EKC, and $40 a day for KWC

BATB: $420

EKC: $540

KWC: $540 (this also includes bullet train tickets from Osaka to Tokyo)

This amount of money will go towards food costs on all 3 trips - averaging out for $50 a day for food.
