Help Save Hemingway: My Sweet Cat Deserves a Fighting Chance
Hi, my name is Cassandra, and I'm here for my cat, Hemingway—my best friend and my heart.
This is incredibly hard to write. Hemingway is 13 years old and has always been a strong, resilient, feisty boy. But recently, his health has taken a heartbreaking turn. He's been rapidly losing weight, his eating and drinking habits have changed, and he’s no longer acting like himself.
Just before moving to Alaska, I had his bloodwork checked and everything seemed fine. But after some troubling changes, I contacted our vet again—and got devastating news. His blood cell counts now point toward lymphoma, a form of cancer. We’re still not 100% sure, and without more tests, I can’t know for certain. What I do know is: he needs care I can’t afford on my own.
What Your Donation Will Help Pay For:
$20 – Telehealth consultation to schedule care (Completed June 4th)
$500–$700 – Full blood panel (Hemingway must be sedated for this due to high anxiety at the vet)
$900 – Imaging (ultrasound) to confirm or rule out lymphoma
If imaging ends up not being needed, these funds will go toward treatment for any other diagnosis (like diabetes), including medication, diet, and ongoing care
Why This Means Everything
Hemingway isn’t just a pet—he’s family. He survived horrific abuse in 2022, along with his brother, Harrow. I spent my life savings saving them after they were beaten and exposed to toxic chemicals. Over $23,000 was spent to save them. They didn't do anything to deserve the treatment they received and I did everything I could to make them whole again. Hemingway suffered nerve damage and burns to his throat, but he made it. He thrived. And he brought me so much joy—dragging his bunny around, curling up in sunspots, and being his chubby, happy self.
After our move to Alaska for a seasonal job (which ultimately didn’t work out), we were left in a tough financial spot. Now I’m back in Phoenix, job-hunting, living in a rented room, and watching Hemingway fade. I’m scared to leave home because I don’t know if I’ll come back to find he’s gone. I’m heartbroken. And I’m desperate.

Cassandra
