Help Canadian Military Afghanistan Interpreters

Hi, I’m Kevin Caldwell from Ottawa Canada and I hope to raise $64,000 to pay for four interpreters and their families flight costs - as they were flown to Canada from other countries. The money will ensure the interpreters do not have to repay a loan agreement, that they had to sign, to the Canadian government as they work to establish new lives in Canada. To understand - one family of seven recently flew from Pakistan to London UK to Toronto and it cost $14,719. Since the military withdrawal, the interpreters faced a horrifying experience in trying to get out of Afghanistan and they had to flee to other countries. As a Company Commander in Afghanistan, I had the honor of working closely with these loyal Afghan interpreters. Without their invaluable help the Canadian Military would not have been able to navigate the complex social, political, and tribal dynamics.

All the interpreters wanted to stay in Afghanistan to help their country, but they were forced to leave with the Taliban taking control again. All of them left everything behind because their lives were in danger and now must start over.

To date money has been raised to cover one interpreters flight cost due to generous donations from friends. Additional money raised will be transferred via Interact e Transfer so they can repay flight costs. I’m hoping this broader appeal will help the other four interpreters. All the interpreters worked with the 3rd Royal Canadian Regiment Battle Group and the 3rd Royal 22 Regiment Battle Group in Afghanistan.
