My wife, who is now 74, has suffered from chronic debilitating health issues since her childhood. By her mid-30s, she became disabled and was unable to work, making it difficult to provide for herself and her daughter.

We have been married since 1991, marking 33 years this June, and throughout this time, I have been her primary support. Regrettably, as I've aged, my ability to support my wife has become limited.

Dorene is living with Parkinson's Disease, Chemical Sensitivity, and Fibromyalgia. Additionally, severe lifelong asthma has reduced her lung function to 60%. These conditions, along with other age-related challenges, make our current rental housing situation difficult to manage.

The funds raised will be allocated directly to the construction of a custom-built home designed to accommodate my wife's needs. Below is a detailed breakdown of how your contributions will impact this project:

Accessibility Features: We plan to install ramps, broaden doorways, reduce countertop heights, and implement additional modifications to guarantee that every area of our home is accessible to my wife, enabling her to move freely and independently.

Adaptive Equipment: We plan to invest in specialized equipment and assistive devices that will enable my wife to carry out daily tasks more easily and independently. From mobility aids to bathroom modifications, we will ensure that every aspect of our home is tailored to her comfort and safety.

Fortunately, my background in construction allows me to serve as a homeowner builder contractor, which can lead to considerable savings. If my health allows, I might undertake some of the tasks myself, especially the interior finishing. Through meticulous sourcing and personal labor investment, I aim to keep expenses to a minimum.
