Help Buckwheat Walk Again
Donation protected
Hi, we are reaching out, asking for your help to give our dog, Buckwheat, the chance to walk again.
Recently, we came home to an unimaginable situation. Our beloved dog, Buckwheat, who has always been active and healthy, suddenly was unable to walk. It was a terrifying moment that left me frantic, but it was clear she needed urgent medical attention.
We rushed her to the animal hospital, who quickly referred us to a veterinary neurosurgeon. After an MRI, we were devastated to learn that Buckwheat was suffering from acute intervertebral disc extrusion, which was causing paralysis in her back legs and the loss of bladder function. She was in immense pain. The vet told me we had two options: to perform an emergency surgery or to make the heart-wrenching decision to put her down.
Without hesitation, we knew we had to try surgery. Buckwheat is perfection. She is a loving 4-year-old piebald dachshund, who is an irreplaceable member of our family. She is a sweet “sister” to Pinecone, our 15-year-old red dachshund, who loves to cuddle. She is affectionate, quirky, and a constant source of joy.
The vet assured me that with the surgery there was hope she could regain her mobility and quality of life, so preparation began right away. While the surgery was successful, the road to recovery is long and costly.
The total expenses are more than our family can afford on our own, and your donations will go directly toward her surgery costs, recovery, and ongoing care to help her regain her strength and mobility. Every donation, big or small, will make a difference in getting her back on her paws. Even if you cannot donate, sharing this page with others who may be able to help means the world to me.
Buckwheat is more than just a pet—she is family, and we cannot imagine life without her. With your support, I am hopeful that we can give her the chance to walk again and live a full, happy life.
Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity.
