Help Bring PÜPA to Life: Support Women in Film!

Help elevate new voices in the industry by supporting a film made by historically underrepresented filmmakers!!

Hi! We’re the team creating “PÜPA,” a short film that looks back on the shifting relationship between sisters Marina and Frankie as they prepare for a big change.

Production will begin on “PÜPA” in Middletown, CT in October 2024, and the post-production process will last until April 2025. We’re so excited to begin production on this and we appreciate any donations at any point during this process. Read more about the story and other ways to help below!

STORY

On the precipice of Marina’s big move to college, she and her sister Frankie venture into the woods to unearth the time capsule they buried as children. Their journey to find the capsule uncovers fond memories of their childhood together, as well as tensions that have been building between them as they’ve grown older.

Throughout the film, the sisters grapple with the present pressures in their lives and relationship and anticipate the challenges of an uncertain future. “PÜPA” explores the magic of butterflies and the enduring love of a sibling in an ever-changing world.

TEAM

“PÜPA” is being produced by a passionate team of creative filmmakers. 80% of our production team members are women filmmakers (a critically underrepresented group in the film industry) and represent a variety of other perspectives that have been suppressed or ignored in mainstream film. As student filmmakers, each person is volunteering their time and energy to this project as a labor of love, striving to deliver the message of the script with thoughtfulness and care. Donations made to “PÜPA” will go towards sourcing equipment and props for filming, providing food for our cast and crew, securing safe filming locations, and other production expenses.
