Help Black Trans Woman Afford Her PTSD Medicine
In Isha’s words:
“I don't have a source of income right now and I need help getting necessities but don't have a support system.
I independently advocate for trans/g housing and health needs. I don't get compensated for that.
I live alone with no family support because of my choice in life. I take meds for PTSD and depression. I have anti social behavior disorder and stay to myself in my apartment. I need help. I don’t like asking for help.”
Because Issa lives in a state that treats healthcare as a privilege, she has had to pay for her psychiatric care completely out of pocket. Those of us fortunate enough to have healthcare understand that psychiatric medication alone can amount to tens of thousands of dollars in a year. Disabled black trans people in the South have a rich traditional of toiling for others while lacking their basic needs. Please give Isha her flowers while she’s alive. Let’s show her that we appreciate not just her work but her right to live.
