Help Bangladesh with COVID-19 and floods

Bangladesh is one of the most populated countries in the world. Due to the lack of resources and opportunities, people in Bangladesh don’t have the ability to live lavishly as many other countries would. Bangladesh has a poverty rate of approximately 30% of its whole population. Although the media shows Bangladesh as a beautiful country with many natural resources filled with rivers and lands to farm, that isn’t the reality for everyone. People live a tough life and provide food for their families by begging in the streets, driving rickshaws in harsh weather, and much more challenging work by putting their lives on the line. There are more than 25% of the people that don’t have the opportunity to attend school due to a lack of money. Kids wander around in the streets with no access to food and medical necessities. Due to this, young women in their teens run off to garments to look for jobs in order to provide for their families. Bangladesh is one of the hotspots for producing garments for foreign companies such as Gap, H&M, Fashion Nova, The Children’s Place, Forever 21, Levi’s, Walmart, Kohl’s, etc. During the pandemic, the workers in Bangladesh are being forced into garments in order to produce clothing for these companies that don’t provide sanitary conditions. They are facing massive pay cuts that are tremendously affecting them. Before the pandemic began, hospitals in Bangladesh weren’t prepared for the outcomes of the deadly virus and they didn’t have enough equipment to help save lives in danger. Many hospitals were very unsanitary, to begin with, and hospital staff isn’t fully attentive to patients as they were too afraid to get the virus themselves. Uber drivers, rickshaw drivers, maids, and other workers that relied upon other people to earn money from are fully losing their income and failing to feed their own families. Many people are losing their homes and are having to live on the streets. The government is failing to help out these people in need of money and resources. These people don’t know if they will live to see another day. We want to give them hope.
We are hoping to raise money for the reason that many families are struggling to make a living in Bangladesh and the virus is continuing to spread due to the lack of masks and gloves for protection. We want to raise this money so we can help to provide food and sanitary protection for these people in need. So, raising this money and making sure a few of these families are getting meals would mean so much to us. They need us now more than ever. And together we can show them that they are not alone. Let’s all hold our hands and hope for a better and brighter future.
