Love for Lyra Mae
Spende geschützt
Charlie and I are the uncle & aunt of a very sick, sweet baby girl. Michael Kincaid and Marla Bell (and big sister, Davia❤️) welcomed a healthy Lyra Mae Kincaid into this world on July 7, 2019. Unfortunately, their time at home together was too brief and at 1 week old she was admitted to the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center where they determined that she was having seizures. She was taken by ambulance to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital and promptly life flighted from there to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at the University of Virginia’s Children’s Hospital.
Lyra has been in the PICU since Tuesday, July 16, where she remains intubated, sedated, and on a cocktail of IV medications. The good news is that the seizures are being medically controlled, but a recent attempt to wean her off of the sedative and ultimately extubate her was unsuccessful. Lyra currently has no diagnosis and no prognosis, as her team of doctors work to find answers.
Marla and Michael were able to get into the Ronald McDonald House just this week and, naturally, they wish to stay by their baby’s side in Charlottesville, VA as she fights to get better. Without a diagnosis, they are taking one day at a time but the reality of the situation is that they will be there for weeks. We’re setting up this funding page so that friends and family can offer support to them to help defray the many financial hardships that a devastating medical emergency like this can cause. We would like for them to be able to focus all their energy on Lyra’s recovery. Sincere thanks in advance for any help. I will do my best to update her condition here. - Shea
