Griffin Snider & Family: Treacher Collins

Griffin was born on September 25th, during a complicated C-section and requiring immediate life support measures in the operating room, as did his mother, Molly. Since then, he has been admitted to the NICU in Lubbock twice, and the PICU in Lubbock once. He has gone by air ambulance from Hobbs twice. 

He has a condition known as Treacher-Collins Syndrome - he has abnormalities of the face and cranium. Griffin has no ears, and he has small eyes and a small jaw... all of this required a tracheostomy and a G-tube. He is oxygen dependent, requires frequent suctioning, takes all feeding through his g-tube. He will have these for several years while he grows and his airways are getting stronger, and he grows enough for surgical interventions. He has also developed plagiocephaly- a flattened skull. His vision and hearing are areas of concern as well. 

Currently, he has 8 different medical specialists, and all of them are two hours away one way, and is now getting consults in Houston. He qualifies for in-home nursing, and has a roster of 9 early intervention therapists and family support specialists. The list continues to grow. 

His big sister Abby, age 5, is a NICU graduate, a g-tube graduate, and is legally blind. She has her own set of specialists and therapists. His older brother Jack is an 18 year old college student who has been navigating COVID life and supporting us in raising two nigh needs younger siblings. 

Chris is our sole breadwinner, and the complexities of both Molly and Griffin’s medical situations have caused delays in both his paramedic school timeline, as well as challenges to his work situation. After several months of being underemployed due to cut hours and wages, we are now dealing with an unemployment situation.
