My name is Kim Shilling, and I am a friend and neighbor to a family who needs your help! They have a dog named Axel, and he was attacked by coyotes and has very significant wounds that need additional treatment. Axel has multiple bite wounds, and he is fighting an infection from a wound that had to be left open while on pain medication and antibiotics. He goes back in next week for a re-check and will need a drain and staples to be put in once they can get the infection to drain. He was admitted to the vet hospital last Wednesday and stayed overnight, but frankly, he needed to stay longer. The family is struggling financially and can really use your help!

Axel is like one of my own, and I was in a position to help them with Axel's medical expenses last week, but I don't have the ability to help them with the continued care that Axel needs. His front right shoulder is badly injured. It looks like the coyotes tried to bite his leg off in the attack so he would be rendered helpless. Axel has additional bites near his front right foot as well.

Please, I was on my way to church this morning and thinking about him and praying maybe there's someone out there who could help the family afford his additional care!? So why not a GoFundMe, I thought!? Axel is such a sweet boy and deserves this chance to get well, don't you think...I do!!!

We don't have a lot of time to raise this money because he's due back at the vet this week, and I am merely guessing at what the total expenses will be because they haven't happened yet. But I can tell you it has cost over $400 so far, and he really should have had X-rays done and blood work, but the family had to do the bare minimum to get him treated. I'm thinking each appointment is probably going to be that much or more if he has to have a drain and staples put in because that is most likely done under anesthesia, I would think. Conservatively, $800 probably won't even be enough, but I have to start somewhere, and if I can at least get the ball rolling for this family, then that's great! I know they will be grateful regardless.
