Help Austin Sodaro Pay for His Medical Bills

Austin is an amazing husband and father who always selflessly puts others first, and now he needs our help! On Christmas Day, Austin and his pregnant wife, Cindi, put Rowen (age 2) down for his nap. While resting in bed, Austin called to Cindi for “help” then he immediately began to seize. Before this day, Austin was healthy, strong, and displayed no neurological symptoms. Cindi frantically dialed 911 and followed the dispatcher’s instructions carefully to help Austin until the paramedics arrived to take him to the ER, which is where their lives turned upside down. Doctors found a large lesion on his brain, and he was ultimately diagnosed with Meningioma.
Austin’s surgery was postponed a few times due to testing positive for Covid and getting very sick, which led to a few extra, unexpected hospital visits. Fast forward to January 31st, Austin was set to have an Angiogram followed by the brain tumor removal surgery on February 1st. Unfortunately, the hospital’s billing department was not adequately prepared, which caused delays and Austin having both procedures back to back on the same day. To say this was a lot of added unnecessary stress would be an understatement, but we like to believe everything happens for a good reason.
Austin was in surgery for 12.5 hours, and they kept him sedated until the following morning due to swelling. The surgeon and his team were terrific and did the absolute best by getting out 98-99% of his tumor. Austin woke up the following day able to call his wife and son on his own.
Since his tumor was in the motor cortex of the frontal lobe (which is responsible for motor skills), Austin is having trouble with the mobility of his legs. Doctors, nurses, family, and friends know how strong Austin is and think this is only temporary. We don’t know how long Austin will need to stay in the hospital; he is still in the ICU as of tonight. We know that it’s going to take a lot of patience and therapy, but we have high hopes he will make a full recovery. Due to the hospital visits for his seizure, a few visits in between, his brain surgery, therapy, and what’s to come, we are starting this Gofundme to help relieve the stress of some financial situations to come. We sincerely appreciate any help towards reducing the unexpected financial burden placed on this young family.
