This holiday season was supposed to be filled with joy, laughter, and family memories. Instead, our hearts were shaken by something we never saw coming.

During our family outing with our kids at the annual holiday parade—an event we look forward to every year—Ashley's tiny Yorkie, Deja, was unexpectedly attacked by a pit bull. Everything happened in seconds. One moment she was trotting happily beside us, and the next, she was yelping in pain as people rushed around us trying to help us get the attacking dog off of Deja.

We are all devastated.

Deja is more than just a pet—she is family to Ashley and her two children and the rest of us who love them. She is the little heartbeat in Ashley's home… the one who curls up on their laps after long days, dances by the door every time when they return, and brings a special light that only their sweet girl can bring. To see her hurt, scared, and in pain broke us in ways we can’t describe.

When we took her to the emergency vet, the news was overwhelming. She will require medical treatment, scans, pain management, and care. The costs are higher than expected—especially during the holidays.

I created this GoFundMe because Ashley needs help caring the little life that has given them so much love. Every dollar will go directly towards her emergency care, medication, and any procedures she needs to get back on her paws. We have been informed that the owner of the dog that attacked Dejá may be homeless in which if so, may not be able to provide any financial relief towards the costs occured at the vet
