Help Andrew With Cancer Travel Expenses!
 

On May 4, Andrew (Brody) MacNamara was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer. He and Cassie are grateful beyond measure that he went in for an MRI on March 24 to have an unusual bone growth checked out because the medical staff discovered the cancer before it spread to his internal organs. They are so grateful that they caught it early!

Treatment — and travel to Seattle to see his doctors — will continue for another 6 to 9 months.

The plan is for Andrew to have 2 rounds of chemotherapy. If the cancer is responsive to the treatment, he will be eligible for surgery.  Following surgery, he’ll have another 2 to 4 rounds of chemo. 

Thankfully, Andrew’s insurance has covered most of his medical expenses so far. Andrew is still able to work and his and Cassie’s employers have been very flexible to support their schedules.

We’re asking for your help because besides the medical expenses which their insurance covers, Cassie and Andrew are doing a lot of extra traveling while also missing time at work, which will continue throughout treatment.  They want to be able to make treatment trips with less stress and worry about the significant extra cost of gas, overnight stays, meals, pet care, and other needs.

Anything you can give will help lighten the load and ensure that Cassie can drive Andrew to his appointments, remain in Seattle while he’s receiving medical care, and be available immediately if he or the medical staff need her for anything. 

Andrew is grateful to have family members in town who have been incredibly supportive and helpful, though he and Cassie miss their immediate family members, who live in New Jersey and Iowa, respectively. Anything you give will help Cassie as the main caregiver to be as present as possible to care for Andrew. They’ll both be freer to focus on his treatment and healing if they are less worried about incidental costs. 

Any extra you can give will also lessen the likelihood that they’ll be in a difficult financial situation down the road.

Your donations will be used for:

• Gas.
• Meals.
• Overnight accommodations.
• Petcare for their dog and 4 hedgehogs.
• Other expenses, as needed. They would like to save a little extra, in case they need funds for groceries, personal care items, and the like.
