I am asking for your donation to support my friend Amal, a young wife and mother in Gaza. My name is Christa Robinson, and I am a graduate student at Michigan State University. Amal and I have been corresponding with each other since June 2024 when she was five months pregnant, displaced, worried for the health of her fetus and suffering from malnutrition and inadequate shelter. Now she has returned to besieged northern Gaza with her husband and baby, and they urgently need your support.

Since the war began in Gaza, wife Amal Sabra and husband Ahmed Saleh have lost their home and have been displaced multiple times. Amal has had to run for her life while pregnant during one of their displacements, as they were under fire by Israeli forces. They have faced so many difficulties together, a lack of food and clean water, no electricity, inadequate shelter, harsh weather and intermittent to no internet access.

Amal and Ahmed have also shared one of their greatest joys, a beautiful baby girl born six months ago. They have scrambled to protect her under difficult conditions-war, famine, inadequate clothing and shelter from harsh weather, that have taken the lives of many infants.

Amal was still recovering when the Netzarim Corridor was finally opened. The family's return north was delayed until vehicles were allowed to cross, and enough money was saved to afford the journey. Still, they returned to the north with the great hope that they could finally achieve a more stable life for themselves and their baby girl. Unfortunately, the north was ravaged, and they had less access to water, electricity, and the internet than their months of displacement in Rafah and Deir al-Balah.

They were already starting over with nothing after their return, but now there has been a blockade for weeks on humanitarian aid which includes food, shelter, but also water and electricity have been shut off. The war has resumed more violently than before, and the people of Gaza are awakened by bombings that feel like earthquakes. Ahmed has been injured by the attacks and his wound has now become infected.

Through all this chaos, Amal must spend her life as a new mother living from donation to donation in order to provide for her family. Your support will provide for the family’s basic needs like food, shelter, clothing, medicine, travel and household items. Every donation that comes in is spent as it comes in on survival, and the cost of survival has risen dramatically. Right now, Amal especially needs your help with food, medicine, formula, and diapers.
