Help Alison rebuild after mold exposure
Spende geschützt
Hi all: If you're receiving this, you're a friend of Alison Hopcroft (aka Hoppy) and know how special she is. You may be familiar with the chronic health issues she has been experiencing for many years and her search to determine the cause. Recent tests revealed toxic mold to be a major part of the puzzle; even more recently, she learned that her current apartment is a mold source and everything inside it is contaminated with mold spores and mycotoxins.
As a result, Alison has to rebuild almost every aspect of her living environment. She has to find a new, safe place to live ASAP, a challenging task in Portland's tight and expensive housing market, made even more difficult by the energy-sapping nature of her health condition. In addition, she has to throw away anything she owns that’s non-porous and can’t be washed. This includes all furniture, heavy jackets, shoes, pillows and some bedding, photos, art, books, food, many personal care products, and numerous sentimental items: her grandmother’s recipe box with handwritten recipes; wooden boxes, bookmarks, kitchen utensils and more made by her uncle; an Andrew Wyeth print from her great-grandparents’ farmhouse.
Everything else - clothing, jewelry, dishes, electronics, home office products - has to be cleaned in an ammonia solution by hand or run through a washing machine twice using a special protocol. This enormous and exhausting task takes considerable time.
We are starting this GoFundMe to help Alison with all expenses relating to this situation: medical bills not covered by insurance, mold testing, rental application fees, and replacing her lost furniture and household items.
Please give what you can and share this with other Hoppy fans you know. This is a difficult time for our good friend; your support means everything to her.
*Note: If you would like to reach out to Alison, please do so by leaving a message on this GoFundMe page (rather than email/phone/FB etc.) so she can focus on her moving tasks and health. Thank you!
