Help Alaa and His Family Escape Genocide
Beschermde donatie
Hi, my name is Eman, I’m a translator and an interpreter and I live in Canada.
At a time of profound urgency and desperation, I’m seeking your assistance in raising funds for the emergency evacuation of my friend Alaa Almalfouh and his family from Gaza.

Alaa is a computer engineer from Gaza, and is the kindest soul you’d ever meet. He lost his livelihood, his home, many family members and friends and was forcibly displaced more than 5 times since Oct. 2023, when his apartment in the north of Gaza was bombed.

He tried to seek shelter at his brother’s place, but it got bombed too, they fled to their sister’s place, which was also bombed, they kept following the instructions to move to “safety zones” from the north to the south of Gaza, but all were bombed.
Now Alaa and his family are sheltering in a flimsy tent -that’s barely providing any shelter from wind, rain or cold- in the South of Gaza by the Rafah sea, facing constant bombings, severe malnutrition, no access to clean water, lack of medical supplies and services, the threat of infectious diseases, and lack of the most basic human rights for a free, safe and dignified life.

Alaa’s parents, who also lost everything as well, are already battling the hardships of old age and all the complications that result from lack of appropriate care and accommodations; his children are traumatized, scared, suffering from malnutrition, gastrointestinal diseases, and he’s watching them get weaker by the day.
This isn’t the first war Alaa and his family experience, but this time, Gaza has been made inhabitable, and Gazans are facing genocide and are under constant threat of all the atrocities that come with it: rape, kidnaps, field executions and famine.
Alaa isn’t looking to better his life or fulfill his or his children’s dreams, as these things have unfortunately become a luxury Gazans can no longer afford, what Alaa is desperately looking for is to stay alive and save the lives of his family members, that’s all.
Close your eyes for a moment, picture yourself in his shoes, how would you feel? What would you do?
Alaa has no one else to help him and his family, this fundraiser campaign is their one and only hope.
We just need to raise enough money to cover the costs of crossing the Rafah border to enter Egypt and find safety, because the sad truth is: There is no safe place in Gaza. From there, Alaa and his family will reunite with his aunt, who's living in Egypt.
Here’s a breakdown of the expenses in US Dollars:
The evacuation is currently managed by a private Egyptian company called: Hala, which charges $5000 per adult, and $2500 per child.
Alaa’s family includes:
Alaa Almalfouh (42)
Maysa Almalfouh (Wife-35)
Deema Almalfouh (Daughter-14)
Ahmed Almalfouh (Son-10)
Ayham Almalfouh (Son-5)
Ahmed Almalfouh (Father-69)
Fayza Almalfouh (Mother-68)
Which means, for Alaa and his family to cross the Rafah border, they need the amount of $27,500.00.
I’ve added the amount of $2000 to cover the transaction fees that will be deducted by GoFundMe per each donation received, and those deducted by banks when transferring the funds to him.
And an additional $500 to provide Alaa and his family with a little bit of support for any unexpected expenses when obtaining and processing their evacuation permits, to manage any health emergencies that may require medical attention, and to cover food and stay expenses for the first couple of days in Egypt.
So the total is 30,000.00 USD, and since my fundraiser in set in Canada, I was requested to provide the goal amount in Canadian Dollars, which is around 40,630.00 CAD.
So why am I setting up the fundraiser instead of Alaa, and how will your donations get to him?
Because Alaa is in Gaza, which is not supported on GoFundMe, I took it upon myself to start this fundraiser, since I’m located in Canada.
I’ll be receiving the donations, and will directly transfer the money to Alaa via wire transfer. If for any reason, this didn't work, the money will be transferred to Alaa's aunt, who's in Egypt, and who can then contact the Egyptian company directly and get them their permits.
I’ll be sharing updates and will provide receipts to show that your donations were delivered to Alaa.
Thank you all for taking the time to read Alaa’s story, hoping that you’ll help us reach our goal and save Alaa and his family.
Please know that every dollar counts and that there’s an anonymous donor option for privacy, if this is an option you’d prefer.
I would also appreciate it, if you could please share this GoFundMe page with your community so that we can reach as many people as possible.
With lots of gratitude,
Eman
