On Monday, April 14th, we received heartbreaking news about a very special boy named Joaquin. Joaquin is extremely close to our hearts and it saddens us to know he had to undergo a major surgery.

At 10:00AM Joaquin’s parents, Samantha & Raul, were notified from the school that he had swallowed a marble magnet.

When they arrived to the hospital they were informed that there was more than one magnet in his stomach. After being transported to Texas children’s hospital, Joaquin went under light anesthesia to see if they could achieve the marbles. At this time, they were still in his stomach. Around 2PM the marbles were hard to get because they traveled down to his intestines. Making it difficult to reach them.

Since the marbles had reached his intestines. Joaquin had to have an open abdominal surgery. After a successful surgery, Joaquin’s parents were told that there were actually SIX marbles removed.

Samantha and Raul have not left his side. Due to Joaquin’s Autism, the recovery has been very hard for him and his family. The hospital is doing everything they can to keep him comfortable.

As of today, he got off the restraints to keep him from messing his surgery site. He is continuing to spike a fever, but with having faith we know he’s going to get better!

With his parents having to miss work we are asking our community to please help support them through this time. Anything and everything is extremely appreciated.
