Help Afghan Families Start Over in the US
In the last moments before access to the Kabul airport was cut off by the Taliban, these four Afghan families left everything behind in hopes of making it to safety. With the help of relatives, friends, and U.S. forces they managed to dodge Taliban checkpoints and patrols to board an evacuation flight to Qatar.
These families worked for decades alongside the U.S. and allied powers in Afghanistan, doing the hard and dangerous work necessary to facilitate the operations of our military and NGOs. Now, they face the daunting task of building new lives for themselves in the United States without so much as a change of clothes to their names.
The Afghan diaspora is a tight-knit community, ready to take care of their newest brothers and sisters as soon as they arrive. But we can make sure that they do not bear that burden alone. It's time to show our support for these families who have supported our troops for so long. Let's make sure they have what they need to start their new lives strong!
Where will the funds we raise go? All money raised will go directly to the four evacuated families to cover necessities such as clothing, personal hygiene items, school supplies, fees associated with their immigration cases, transportation costs, and whatever else they need to get on their feet. For the safety and security of these individuals as well as their family and friends back in Afghanistan, we cannot share their names or identifying details, but we will update this page as funds are disbursed. (The beneficiary listed on this fundraiser is their relative already living in the US, who will transfer the funds directly to the families once they arrive and set up US bank accounts.)
What happens if we exceed our initial goal? Any additional funds will go directly to other newly arrived Afghan families in the same situation.
