Urgent humanitarian appeal: Save the Abu Awad family
Donation protected
I am Khalil Abu Awad, brother to Mohammed and a father of three children: Zeina, Lina, and Musab. During the recent war on Gaza, our house was directly bombed and collapsed on top of us. We miraculously survived, but my three-year-old son, Musab, sustained serious, life-threatening injuries.
Musab now lies in pain, amid a severe shortage of treatment and medication. Hospitals are overwhelmed, and the situation is unbearable. I ask only for a chance to save my son and lead my family out of this hell in search of safety and treatment.

I need your humanitarian support – to help cover the costs of treatment, and to secure safe passage for us out of Gaza.
Every donation, every share of this appeal, is a lifeline for the children and the future of the Abu Awad family.
Help us before it's too late.
With utmost gratitude -
Khalil Abu Awad

My name is Mohammed Abu Awad, brother to Khalil. Since October 7, our life has been consumed by unimaginable tragedy, but I hope to shed light on the catastrophic humanitarian crisis unfolding here.
This is how we live in Gaza by Mohammed Abuawad (view video)
We’ve endured the fear and horror of relentless war, watching homes—our homes—reduced to rubble. Every moment is a fight for survival in the face of destruction, chaos, and unthinkable danger. Initially, the house I lived in was bombed. I was buried under the rubble and miraculously survived, but not without unimaginable loss. My best friend died in my arms. I sustained multiple fractures, but no physical pain compares to the grief and devastation of that moment.

Today, we live with new fears developing daily—I'm consumed by anxiety about my family and I's safety, hunger, thirst, displacement, separation, impending injury or death, and destruction. Simply existing, much less speaking out against oppression, makes us targets. In retaliation, our homes were destroyed: my family’s house, my older brother’s home, and those of my married sisters—all reduced to dust. We’ve lost everything but these memories.

To make matters worse, Gaza is now gripped by famine. Food, medicine, and other supplies have dwindled to almost nothing, and the price of what little remains is beyond astronomical—far out of reach for families like mine who have lost everything and are without income. We are living beyond the brink, facing hunger and desperation daily.

But even in the depths of despair, we cling to hope. We dream of a happy, healthy, productive life. With your help, I have to believe we can escape this nightmare. I have to believe the free world will help us maintain our hope and regain our dignity. Please help my family.
Your generosity will help us survive and evacuate Gaza, and rebuild a future. Every donation—no matter the size—has the power to change our lives. Your kindness can be the difference between life and death, hope and despair.
The plan is to relocate to Egypt, where we can begin to heal and forge a new path. However, the cost of leaving Gaza is steep, especially for a large family. Coordinating the complex exit procedures through the Rafah crossing, covering travel expenses, and securing a home in Egypt will cost at least £100,000. Every single penny of your contribution will go directly to ensuring our survival and eventual evacuation when the crossing reopens.
THIS IS A PLEA FOR HELP. It’s a plea to save not just one life, but an entire family caught in the crossfire of man-made, humanitarian disaster. Your support can give us a chance to rise from the ashes and reclaim the rights every human being deserves.
Please, if you can, help us escape this catastrophe. Thank you for being a glimmer of hope in our darkest hour.
My GoFundMe is managed by a trusted family companion, Kari McElfish, who resides in the USA. All funds will be secured, managed, and distributed by Kari directly to the Abu Awad family via channels like Western Union, PayPal, and currency exchanges, dependent upon current fee schedules and other pertinent factors.
