Abner is a good friend of mine who over the time I’ve known him has helped to advance the level of emergency dive medicine on the island of Ambergris Caye. Ambergris Caye in Belize is a world class  diving destination full of wonderful people and an amazing culture. Abner runs a business where he provides advanced SCUBA diving emergency response and Emergency SCUBA Diving Safety Training and also assists in administering of hyperbaric recompression treatment to SCUBA divers suffering from decompression sickness. Abner the  first emergency call for many dive shops through out Belize including San Pedro Town, Caye Caulker, Turneffe Atoll, Lighthouse Atoll, Glover Atoll, Hopkins, Placencia, Punta Gorda. His advanced training includes: Hyperbaric Chamber Operator, Hyperbaric Chamber Attendant, Hyperbaric Chamber Technician—operation and maintenance of hyperbaric chambers of which there are two on the island. With the  Covid -19 pandemic and Corona cases taking its toll on Belize and the airport being shut down there are no tourist visiting La Isla Bonita to dive. With no one diving  Abner  has not worked since March. Please help Abner and his family make it thru what is becoming an unbearable situation. Please consider donating  to help maintain the level of emergency dive medicine that is available on the island because of people like Abner. I love diving  in Belize not only because it’s beautiful but because I feel comfortable knowing Abner will take care of me and has my back if the worst happens. With Abner your in good hands!

Abner is a diligent professional who goes out of his way to provide help and support for his clients. He brought an oxygen tank all the way to the hotel when my Dad was feeling very sick after a day of diving. He is a wonderful guy and I would recommend his services to anyone!

My wife and I had a fantastic dive at the The Blue Hole and she unfortunately had some issues with decompression. When we arrived back at the docks, Abner Bacab met us at the dive center, did a thorough examination and put us in the proper medical guidance path. My wife ended up having to do a cycle for decompression and due to Abner's quick guidance and medical expertise, she was able to get treatment is doing just fine now. Thanks Abner!

Me and my girlfriend went on the Turneffe Dive trip. Upon completion of my third dive and our boat ride back I began feeling symptoms of decompression sickness that I attributed to motion sickness. Upon arrival back on land, and to our hotel, my symptoms didn’t improve so our hotel contacted Abner. He arrived very quickly and applied his knowledge and suggested I seek medical attention. He supplied me with oxygen and drove me to see a doctor where his initial diagnosis was confirmed. He then drove us to the hyperbaric chamber to receive prompt and immediate treatment. He also answered many questions, was helpful and took care and supported my girlfriend when I was in the chamber for several hours. If it weren’t for Abner’s quick response and expertise I probably would’ve flown home the next day (24 hours after our last dive) and who knows what complications may have occurred. I am very thankful for Abner’s assistance and expertise to guide me to the appropriate and timely treatment. He was very helpful in a confusing and difficult time for me and my symptoms and provided support and took care of my girlfriend when I was receiving treatment for several hours at a time in the hyperbaric chamber.

Abner is absolutely the best! We were at a complete loss when emergency evacuated to San Pedro and he met us at the airport and worked out all of the issues over the next six days. He is excellent at explaining what is going on in the hyperbaric chamber and was the attendant in the chamber with my husband for his first 5-hour treatment. We were in good hands and with his connections he was able to manage a crazy/creative transfer of our luggage, dive gear and camera gear from another island. We highly recommend him and his services are extremely valuable to a diver in need!

My son and I were in Ambergris Caye on a scuba diving trip when he suffered a life threatening dive injury. Thank goodness for the dive crew that got him out of the water and to the clinic in record time to where the real life saving treatment began. He spent 6 hours in the chamber and Abner was the technician in charge. On the scariest day of our lives, Abner's expertise and compassion were so appreciated by both myself and our son! He put our minds at ease and made the entire experience as positive as it could be. Abner will always be our angel on this Earth as he saved our son's life. We will never forget him <3#ourangel
