Help a young family that fled the war in Ukraine

A friend of mine lives in Poland and has taken in a young family of Ukrainian Refugees. They fled with almost nothing and have been surviving by making and selling street food. Many of you, as have I, may have donated to one of the many worthy charities that are on the on the ground and supporting the refugees. I felt the need to do more though and knowing my generous friend Ewa was supporting a family in crisis I decided to contribute to her efforts and help make a real world difference to a displaced family.

Ukraine: please help put a roof over the heads of our family

I will never forget the moment everything changed and our happy, ordinary life came to an end. We woke up in the early morning to the words “Russia attacked us. We have a war."

We thought Russia just wanted to scare us and it would soon be over. It wasn’t. We spent 12 days in a damp, dusty basement – unable to understand what tomorrow might bring. Or if there would be a tomorrow for us.

Every day, the situation got worse. We knew we had to leave while it was still possible, but that meant saying goodbye to our husbands. It was heartbreaking. We did it for our children.

I travelled with my little daughter Olivia and our dog, my mother, my aunt and my sister. We have left everything behind – our home, our jobs, our hearts. We have a place to stay for a short time, but we’re asking for your help to put a roof over our heads and rent an apartment here in Poland. Anything you can give will make a difference and we will be forever grateful for your kindness to us at this time.

We don’t know how long it will be until we can go home, but with your help, we can be safe. There are many more families like ours. Please help as many as you can.
