Help Our Family Move to a Safe Place

The past few years have been increasingly difficult. My husband passed away suddenly during Thanksgiving weekend in 2017, leaving us with no car and no savings. Since then, we’ve been struggling to survive.

 

I hadn't worked in 10 years because I was homeschooling our child, so it was difficult for me to find a job. I had to take what I could get. With the survivor benefits my child receives plus my wages, we’re barely able to afford a 1 bedroom apartment and struggle each month to pay our bills. I don’t even make enough to get the medical benefits that my company offers. In addition, I have chronic joint pain and need to see a doctor about untreated reproductive issues that I’ve been dealing with for the past 4-5 years. I've also taken in my child's friend who lost both of their parents in 2018-2019. I really just want to be able to survive and care for these kids. They deserve to be safe. I'm hoping this fundraiser will help me take care of them for now, and set us up for a better future. 

 

With my state’s attacks on transgender people and reproductive rights, we’re scared to remain here, but we have no support from family and have only a few friends who can help us. Without additional help, we will continue to struggle to pay our bills, and we'll have no way out. 

 

If we meet our goal, we should be able to buy a car, move to a safe place, and have a little breathing room so I have time to find a job that meets our needs. While we're fundraising, I will be using some of the money to keep us housed and fed. The goal will be adjusted as necessary to keep us safe and meet our needs.
