Help A Soldier Visit His Son

Hello all,

I am creating this fundraiser on behalf of my friend and fellow Soldier. I am going to attempt to keep this a secret and surprise him and his family on Christmas.

Johnrey Tsuboi was born and raised in the Philippines. He struggled and was left to raise his four younger brothers on his own due to his absent parents. He worked in the medical field to support his fiance and son, but their dream was to find their way to America.

Eventually, Johnrey earned his green card and enlisted in the US Army. He has been a valuable member of our Chemical Warfare platoon since he arrived at Fort Lewis, Washington. On August 16, 2022, he passed his exams and officially became an American citizen. In October, he flew to Camp Hovey, Korea for a 9 month rotation (I joined him in November). We are a mere 10 miles from the North Korean border, and our operational tempo and training schedule are intense.

It is difficult for me to be away from my family and friends during the holidays, but for Johnrey, this painful separation is the norm. He has not returned home to the Philippines for years. His fiance has always been a loyal supporter, and his son Marcus is now 5 years old and is proud of his dad. Johnrey sends a large portion of every Army paycheck back home and is also currently paying bills for their Visa. He has struggled with his finances and debt, and he wants to finally see his family again after our time in Korea is over.

This fundraiser is to help make Johnrey's goals a little easier. His son is extremely sweet and has helped him through many difficult times. I want them to be reunited.
