Help a Local Filmmaker Make Her Next Project!

Hi! I'm Emme Oliver, a PA-based writer and filmmaker! Here's a little bit about me:
I graduated a year early from The New School in 2024 with a Bachelor of Arts in Screen Studies. Over the past year, I've had the opportunity to work as a production assistant for A&E Factual Studios, a sales associate at Liberty Ministries Thrift, whose proceeds benefit those coming out of incarceration, a substitute teacher, a special needs life coach, and a freelance writer for CBR.
I am an active member of the Feasterville community and am now aiming to bring a dream of mine to life! In 2022, a friend and I wrote the first draft for "The Most Important Person in the Room," a dark comedy short film about a girl who could not escape her ex-boyfriend making movies about her. From there, the script was revised into a similar story about a young woman who's going through an intense breakup and unfortunately has to deal with a community that worships her ex-boyfriend's indie films.
We've all been through breakups, and what can especially suck about them is when you're reminded of the person everywhere you go. With this film, I aim to capture and illustrate a visceral experience that explores and personifies what one goes through during an emotionally vulnerable time such as this. I also want to infuse some comedic elements into the film. As a film writer and active member of the Letterboxd community, I too often see the archetypal "film bros" apply their elitist perspectives to film, taking away from an art form that's meant to be enjoyed and critiqued by all.
So why should you support this film? I'll tell you! If you love art, film, writing, and creativity, one of the best things you can do is support local artists, especially in a time when creative voices are needed the most. It was recently reported by film and TV newsletter, The Daillies, that writing jobs in the entertainment field are down 42%. The only way to make it is to make art!
This film will also directly support the community. As mentioned, I work for Liberty Ministries, a program that helps those coming out of incarceration find sustainable housing, employment, and build a path to a new and improved life. All unused proceeds raised towards this film will be donated to the program after pre-production, production, and post-production are complete.
What will your donations go to? I'll be using the funds to pay actors and crew members for their time spent on set as well as craft services, so everyone has delicious food and refreshments while we work hard to make this movie the best it can be! I will also be using the funds to buy equipment, props, costumes, and other necessities to make this film.
I sincerely thank you for taking the time to read my story and hope you'll consider donating to help me make this film a reality!
