Help a Fellow Teacher

Heather Ramos has been an employee for the Caldwell School District for over 20 years. Last year the Caldwell School District office overpaid Heather Ramos almost $10,000 over a 6 month period. Heather thought she was receiving  stipends for the following:  youth court, truancy officer and board of reviews which she had received the previous year. For the last year the district has pulled $577 per paycheck out  for their mistake. Due to this garnishment, it has caused financial hardship. Throughout the year Heather has seen her car repossessed, her utilities turned off several times and she has to receive monthly food boxes from a church to support her family. She will not finish being penalized until June and the family is in crisis mode. 
Anyone that knows Heather and the Ramos family understands how giving they are to our community. It is time for our community to come together to help them. Heather is a member of NEA/IEA/CEA, and as a member I am asking for all association members to come together and support this family.  Please remember this can happen to any one of us.
