We need your help!

We are raising community care funds to support a young Black teenager so she can get the immediate health care she needs now. We know that Black women shoulder an unequal burden in community responsibility, and our sibling-in-spirit is no different.

She has been involved as a youth activist, organizer, and leader in her community in Charlottesville, Virginia. She has kept friends and students afloat when they needed support, and now she needs us. She needs ALL of us.

Funds will support recovery-related needs. The cost of a 4-week inpatient substance use program with medical and mental health services is $20-30,000. We know services like this should be for everyone as part of our health care system but they are not. Until then WE will be her support system.

Her family is able to contribute $3,000, so let’s raise the rest.

Update Monday April 15, 2024:

Thank you all for your generous gifts! She tried an inpatient program and has chosen not to do an inpatient program for now. She wants to focus on her recovery through therapy and other forms of support. The funds raised here will continue to support recovery-related needs, such as therapy.

I changed the fundraising goal to match the amount raised so far, and I will update the fundraiser if more funds will be needed. Thank you all for your support!
