Recording of my next album “Third Anthem” began in mid-March of 2020 and abruptly ended just as soon as it began. The pandemic was at the doorstep, and all our lives changed. Sessions resumed much later in the year with masks, and social distancing. This was my first "proper studio" record as 1970s Film Stock, and the timing could not have been worse.
The record is now nearly done, but there’s no money left in the 1970s Film Stock tank to wrap it up. With no gigs this year, and the necessary cancellation of some live score events I was really counting on, my financial plan to put this album out fell apart. I need some help to finish the mix, get it mastered, and sent off to be turned into a beautiful LP. You can see the wonderful artwork from Jon Foster in the above photo.

This album is a culmination of the last few years of 1970s Film Stock. It includes some tunes that have shown up often in live sets but have never been recorded, alongside some pieces that haven’t been heard by anyone but me and producer/engineer Jon Pfiffner.
The name “Third Anthem” speaks to the spirit of the album, somewhat cheekily, somewhat seriously suggesting a new anthem, a new mindset, a move towards a new day. In fact, I’m hoping with the flow of the album you feel taken on a journey from the break of day to the stillness of night.
I’m proud of it. I hope you enjoy it. I can’t wait for you to hear it.
