Helen Tesfay was born and raised in Villajo area in Asmara. She has been living as refugee in Sudan for 8 years. She had completed interview processing and medical clearance to migrate to a better future with the UNHCR when the war in Sudan erupted. At this time a neighbor single mom, Selina Kidane Tewelde, born in Gergesh, Eritrea, passed away survived by Kevin (B, 15) and Sesen (G, 9). Seeing that no close friend or family came to care for the children, Helen decided to foster them. While tending to the Children’s need to buy groceries, Helen was assaulted by the soldiers who conquered the city (Khartoum). Helen was traumatized and decided to leave the town to find safe place. She and the kids are now on a refugee camp in remote place in Ethiopia, Gonder state about 70 km away from the town of Metema. They only get a few kilos of wheat per week at this time. They have to buy water and food from the locals. This fundraiser is to support this new family survive in this current difficult state and support a group 5 especially the two orphans that Helen is raising.
