Heather's Brain Surgery Fund

My name is Linda Mosher and I am the mother of Heather Trotter who back in November found out she had a tumor on her Pineal gland. Pineal tumors are normally benign tumors but because the gland is located deep in the midbrain (middle), surgery is difficult. Heather recently traveled to Houston, TX to Mischer Neuroscience Institute (Memorial Hermann) to see a specialist named Dr. Dong Kim who deals with these types of growths. While there she found out she also has a arachnoid cyst which is caused by a sac of cerebrospinal fluid that builds up due to meningeal layers getting blocked  in the brain. She also found out she has  a Chiari I malformation.  The Chiari malformation is basically a structual defect. The condition is when the lower part of brain tissue extends into your spinal canal.

Heather will be undergoing surgery in about six weeks and all three surgeries will be performed at once in Houston. She will need to spend approx. 2-3 weeks in Houston while recovering before she is well enough to travel back home. Due to the financial stress of traveling,  paying for living expenses in Houston  while recovering after she released from the hospital, follow up appointments and being out work.
