Stand With Us: Mom’s Heart Transplant Journey

Dear friends, family, and any kind-hearted strangers,

I am asking for your help and support as my mom just got the news today that she has qualified for a heart transplant.

My mom got diagnosed with congestive heart failure after her first heart attack at the age of 27. At the age of 59, she has now reached the end stages of her disease and is in need of a heart transplant to survive.

In 2020, she started the process to see if she would be able to qualify to be put on the transplant list, which during the process, they found breast cancer.

Our world crumbled to pieces, but after chemo and radiation, my mom was able to beat the disease and has been in remission since.

A few months ago, she was cleared to start the process again to see about qualifications for a new heart, but was denied at Allegheny General Hospital due to her cell level count being too high from the chemo. She was then referred to the Cleveland Clinic.

Fast forward to today… We received the news we have been waiting for and are so unbelievably thankful that she has been approved!

Due to the state of her condition, she has to stay at the Clinic until she receives a new heart. This could be days or months… We are unsure at this point in time. I wanted to create this to help support my family to assist with lodging and medical bills that have added up over time, as my father has been staying in a hotel to be with her daily.
