In October 2023, my childhood best friend Carrie-Anne and her family caught Covid.
Like many of us, her family had to navigate through the illness, and she had to nurse her family back to health.
After fighting Covid, Carrie-Anne experienced an ongoing attack of flu viruses one after the other. By her 40th birthday in January 2024, Carrie-Anne started to experience hair loss and extreme, debilitating fatigue. As each day went by, her symptoms became worse, and after many visits to her doctor, she was finally diagnosed with long covid. Since her diagnosis, Carrie-Anne now also suffers with brain fog, memory loss, and social anxiety (any of you that know Carrie-Anne know this is NOT like her at all). She struggles to speak now as she's developed a studder and has constant ringing in her ears. She deals with constant aches and pains from head to toe, swelling and inflammation of the joints and muscles, and she's also developed food sensitivities to almost every major food groups. All of these symptoms seem to rapidly increase and trigger pain when she has any sort of heightened emotions.
Despite having a large care team of MDs, naturopaths, a dermatologist and a psychologist, Carrie-Anne's symptoms continue to progress.
She has never experienced/dealt with any of the these health issues before Covid, and she no longer feels like herself.
Her CT scan and blood work have all come back clear, which is great news in itself, but unfortunately leaves her and her family with many unanswered questions.
She is unable to work or take care of her family, something she's always taken so much pride in. She is left feeling scared, frustrated, alone, and in pain.
My beautiful friend needs support right now. Times are hard enough as it is with our economy, having one person not working in a family (add in experimental supplements, iv therapies, lymphatic massages, cranial sacral massages, naturopath appointments etc.) makes it almost impossible to keep up.
Her family could use our help!
If you have any leads on dealing with long covid, if you know someone experiencing the same things, if you know a doctor or have read anything, if you could afford to donate even $5, anything and everything would be greatly appreciated and would truly go a long way for Carrie-Anne and her family.
If you have any information or questions, please reach out to myself, Krista Chaffey, or mumzee (Susan Young).
We thank you for your love and support xo
