On March 15th, after many days of flu like symptoms, Mary Everson took her sweet Anna to the hospital to get checked out. Since then, Anna has been at BC Children's Hospital fighting a serious brain infection called, ADEM. The past month, Mary and her family have been travelling between K'omoks and Children's Hospital to stay by Anna's side. The healing journey ahead will be long and hard. With the seriousness of this infection, recovery will require more than being present, but also a significant amount of renovations for mobility once she's able to come home. Mary and her family have given a tremendous amount to our community, so let us wrap her and Anna with as much love as we can and ease any financial burden.

March 17 - "Well, the doctors are quite confident that our girl has ADEM and possible an infection in her brain! We are so humbled that it was caught before she went into a coma! Anna is on super antibiotics and has started a steroid intravenous drip for the first day of three ! She now is only on Tylenol ! They are quite sure of ADEM, a spinal tap would be needed to confirm!!!!! Thank you Creator for your guidance of the medical teams at hospitals that are caring for our treasures, our children! March 20 - "Good night and thank you for your prayers, must get some solid sleep tonight, so Anna has an Spinal tap tomorrow, checking to see if the treatment is killing the infection in her brain! Plans are that she will be transferred back to comox valley hospital for more steroid meds. Then another MRI to check the infected spots on her brain! Not over by any means! Keep her in your prayers, please! Love her too much !"
March 30th - "Well our first trip out of a hospital wasn’t long . She got tired fast and was hungry ! Because she had 3 Seizures in 30 min. She needs to have emergency meds with her if a seizure lasts more than 5 min. And 911 is to be called! A new way of life for us! I know she will be back to her sassy and old self again! But must work on her muscles, speech and walking! Love this munchkin to past the edges of our universe!"
April 7 - "Tomorrow they are doing a biopsy on her brain!!!. It will confirm what type of infection she has on her brain. Then the doctors can give her a concentration of meds to destroy it! Keep her in your prayers! I would trade places with her in a heartbeat! We hold her up to the Creator for healing, strength and loving care!"
April 8 - "She is out of surgery and resting in her room in ICU! Drs said everything went well! Now time to rest and healing with more drugs to kill the infection. It may take a week to know the results of the biopsy! But they are more confident of their diagnosis! And will
Mega dose her with antibiotics"
April 9 - "Tomorrow off to Vancouver to our babe! She will be in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at BC Children’s Hospital for at least 2 more weeks! They are very sure that the ADEM attack has resulted in Vasculitis in her brain! She has been on a ventilator , had several days of EEG , a NG tube to feed her and many IV leads to give her the 8 meds ! She is a fighter and has the spunk to get better! After PICU she will be sent to 6th floor for a while and then will be assessed again at Sunnyhill Hospital! It will be a very long recovery for her! Thank you for your prayers and love! April 16 - "IT HAS BEEN A VERY TOUGH DAY WITH ANNA ! HER YOUNG BRAIN HAS SOME DAMAGE FROM THIS HORRIBLE DISEASE! I WOULD TRADE PLACES WITH HER IN A HEARTBEAT! Keep your prayers for her! She needs all of them! Ga la kas la!!!!!!"
