—Update on Hayes’ Recovery Journey—

The doctors discovered a very small fracture in Hayes’ femur on the final X-rays. He’ll need to keep his brace on for another 2–4 weeks while it heals. We are so grateful Hayes is doing so well—he’s eager to run again and can’t wait to have his brace off. He’s been such a trooper, wearing it faithfully and knowing it’s helping his leg heal and making him stronger every day.

— As many can imagine, the costs from the life flight, ambulance rides, and hospital stays are extremely high. The family is hoping to at least meet their $6,000 deductible.

For those who don’t know me, I’m Whitney—better known as “Koko” to Connor & Viktoria’s three little ones, Kasher, Hayes, and Kate.

On most days, you’ll find the kids in the backyard, driving toy cars & trucks, playing pretend, swimming in their pool, or running in the sprinkler, and—when the work day is over —riding bikes and playing with the neighborhood crew (kids).

On Friday evening, around 6:45 pm, their world changed in an instant. Hayes was playing with his cars/toys alongside his brother (Kasher) in the neighbor’s driveway when tragedy struck—Hayes was accidentally run over by a truck.

Everything happened so quickly. Our reactions were instinctive, but the emotions were overwhelming—terrified doesn’t even begin to describe it.

Help arrived fast. In around two hours, Hayes, accompanied by his dad (Connor), was life-flighted to Fargo. By the grace of God, he survived. He suffered road rash and a small laceration to his liver, which will heal without surgery. Walking fully will take time, but he is already starting to very slowly walk again. Most importantly—he is still here. With his family. With his mom and dad. With his brother and sister. With all of his loved ones.

This was nothing short of a miracle. God’s hand was over him, and Hayes is living proof that God is real.

Now, as the family focuses on Hayes’ recovery, the financial burden will be heavy—medical bills from the ambulance, life flight, hospital stays, hotel stays, and lost work hours are piling up. I’m creating this GoFundMe so that money is the last thing they have to worry about while they pour their energy into getting their sweet boy back to 100%.

Please keep this family in your prayers as they heal from a day that will forever be etched in their memories. Thank you, God, for sparing Hayes’ life. Continue to protect him, his siblings, and his parents.

Any prayer, donation, or word of encouragement means more than you could know. Thank you for helping this miracle boy and his family.
