Update 05/8: Police closed the case without any progress despite being named not at fault.

Dear friends,

My name is Hassan Hachem, and on March 29th, 2023 I was the victim of a motorcycle accident in College Station, Texas. I am a sophomore studying premed at Texas A&M University, and I manage a start up motorcycle safety device business all whilst completely supporting myself. I have 2 cats named after my favorite sandwiches.

On that Wednesday, as I was enjoying my ride home from work, a large lifted truck changed lanes directly in front of me, causing me to brake and go flying off my now defective motorcycle at about 45 miles an hour. My limp body bounced 3 times, as did my motorcycle, and rolled about 20 feet until stopping 2 feet before a stop sign pole. I was rushed to Saint Joseph’s Hospital, where I underwent emergency surgery in hopes of mitigating some of my injuries. I am currently stable, after almost a week in the trauma intensive care unit. Suffering from severe organ damage, including a ruptured (now surgically sutured) intestine and a grade 3 liver laceration means there may be a long road ahead of recovery for me. I am still awaiting more information from doctors and surgeons, but I am incredibly grateful to be alive.

As my medical expenses pile up, I receive less and less calls from the police as to the progress on finding the hit and run driver. They’ve already sent in their accident report to my insurance, which was of no help to my financial situation without the trucks information. I am yet to return to serving at the restaurant I work at.

I am a fighter and will not give up, but I am going to need all the help I can get. So I turn to you, my friends, classmates, and any other kind souls who are willing to help make this process a little more manageable. Any contributions will be used for my recovery, stay at the TICU (trauma intensive care unit), emergency surgery, and at-home medical care. I will likely require a little extra help to stabilize my life again, including purchasing a vehicle as my motorcycle was my only mode of transportation. My motorcycle will be auctioned off for the tow yard as I could not afford to retrieve it.

This being said, if there is anything you can contribute to help me get my life back on track, and allow my friends, family, and I to see myself reach my fullest potential, I would be more than grateful. I appreciate you all taking the time to read this and if even a prayer or a hopeful thought is all you can contribute at this time, I thank you for taking the time out of your day to do so. I now plan on becoming a trauma surgeon instead of an orthopedic surgeon.

With love,
Hassan Hachem.

If anyone would like to speak to me directly I’d love to do so, and I believe GoFundMe provides a way.
