2018 Hurricane Relief Efforts

My name is Tim Sorenson, a disaster volunteer based in the greater Seattle area. Hurricane Florence is set to slam into the east coast this week, and I'm heading into the storm to provide rescue, recovery and relief for those affected. I'm meeting up with other volunteers in South Carolina to begin our relief efforts as soon as I arrive.

The National Weather Service has warned that Florence “will likely be the storm of a lifetime for portions of the Carolina coast,” and forecasters are warning people of possibly 9-12ft storm surges along the Carolinas. Grocery stores and gas stations are already running out of supplies and fuel.

With the anticipated wind and flood damage, there will be a large need for recovery and relief efforts, including rescues, tree/debris clearing, roof tarping and supply distribution - all things we handled through last season’s hurricanes in Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico. Feel free to visit washingtonrescuer.com to see what I did last hurricane season, and to verify this is a legitimate campaign.

I'm watching the weather closely and are deploying immediately to the south eastern coast, and my mission will be changing based on what Hurricane Florence dictates.

ALL FUNDS given to this campaign will go to supply and aid those affected by the storm. Funds will be used for items such as: water, food, fuel, rescue/recovery equipment, tarps, and other expenses to maintain an effective mission.
