A Home for Harriett’s Bookshop
My friends,
I do not want to be a slave nor a sharecropper. No one does. As you may or may not know, we rent the space at Harriett’s Bookshop from a woman who decided to give us a chance when no one else would.
However our lease is up in JULY and instead of renewing it for another 2 years, wed’d prefer to OWN our own building for Harriett’s Bookshop.
As it stands, I am a modern day sharecropper bringing energy and investing money in a location that I cannot pass down to my children.
But we can change that.
The new permanent location would give us a mission focused bookshop with an 1800s residential feel that includes multiple floors of private book nooks, indoor/outdoor green space, meeting rooms, and a state of the art third floor apartment which will be used to house a visiting rotation of authors, artists, and activists.
With your donation, our monument to Harriett Tubman will be a permanent staple in the community and our impact will be felt for generations.
We appreciate your contribution from the bottom of our hearts.
Thank you and Ase.
