Harmony with Nature: Help Jack & Huta Paung’s future

The purpose of this fundraising platform is to support Ozagma “Jack” Lorenzo Simorangkir (an Indonesian farmer, emergency response worker and a leader in community climate resilience development) in fulfilling his community focused agricultural dream.

Jacks Own Words:

"I have a big dream to revive and develop the agarwood farming land that I inherited from my grandfather after he passed away. The farming I will establish will not only be sustainable but also a manifestation of harmony with nature. However, in Huta Paung, a village in the Pollung sub-district, Humbang Hasundutan Regency, North Sumatra Province, Indonesia, I see many people pressured to sell their land to large corporations, turning green areas into pine plantations that damage the environment and increase the risk of landslides.

But I am not discouraged. I am determined to change this course. I will develop this land into an organic farm for vegetables and fruits while preserving the local agarwood commodity. Moreover, with nearly 20 years of experience in community development and program financial management collaborating with various humanitarian organizations, I will make this land a learning center for the surrounding community (especially the communities disabled and marginalized persons) that prizes Batek Toba (local indigenous) knowledge.

Yet, my dream does not stop there. I also want to make this place a space for children to learn musical instruments, both traditional and modern. I believe that with collective effort, we can create a harmonious and sustainable environment for all involved."

Raised funds will be used for:

1.⁠ ⁠Small house (working space to produce organic fertilizer)

2.⁠ ⁠Warehouse (community learning centre)

3.⁠ ⁠Farming Tools & Equipment

4.⁠ ⁠Various seeds (vegetables & fruits)

5.⁠ ⁠Music equipment

6. Potential small playground for local children

Though fundraising facilitation is occurring in Canada, all funds are for Ozagma “Jack” Lorenzo Simorangkir project within the community of Huta Paung, Indonesia.
