Harbor Include is a nonprofit in the Grays Harbor county of Washington. We are a drop in program for LGBTQ+ youth and their friends. We want to provide a safe space for youth ages 13-18 to be out and express themselves! We plan to do this by providing a physical drop in space twice monthly on Friday nights. During drop in hours, we will provide snacks and entertainment, including programs like movie nights, board game nights, dances, and education. In all of our activities we strive to connect with LGBTQ+ culture and provide youth with a connection to our greater community.
Steven and Emily Puvogel of Events on Emerson are currently allowing us use of their space to host Harbor Include! This means that for the time being, we can focus fundraising on getting our center established. Currently, we are working to secure our status as a 501(c)3 non-profit; this would allow us to accept all donations as tax deductible and open the door many valuable opportunities. The cost of the federal 501(c)3 license is $400.
Additionally, we have set a goal that includes the cost of liability insurance for our first year. We have received a very reasonable quote from a local business owner of about $680. The remaining $420 of our goal would allow us to print full color flyers for promotional material and cover an initial purchase of snacks for youth. Exceeding this goal would allow us to do things like promote on Facebook and local radio. We will post updates, especially if our goal is exceeded, to let you know how and where any additional funds will be spent. Thank you for your support!
