My Story:
Since finishing school in 2006, I have worked towards becoming a psychotherapist in order to help others around me. In 2012 I finally finished my Masters and was ready to start working.
However, this same year my family lost our house in a fire which had a devastating impact on my health. I no longer was able to keep working as a therapist and was recommended to take some time away from this work.
In order to keep to my core values of helping others without engaging in therapy, I have decided to look outside of Australia and help those who desperately need help.
Please Help.
Sub-Saharan African countries are suffering from a huge number of orphans left behind after their parents die from illnesses such as HIV/AIDS resulting in a large number of orphanages in countries such as Tanzania. Contributing to this disproportionate number of orphanages is the fact that in some cases the parents are simply unable to provide for the children or they have been abandoned, increasing the numbers of orphans in Tanzania.
In order to support this cause, I have decided that next May I will spend 6 months working in one of the many orphanages in Arusha, Tanzania. While living with these children I will teach English classes, care for the children too young to attend school and attempt to heighten the awareness of HIV/AIDS.
Please help me by donating, or buy an artwork to keep at home.
I will be selling artworks I have painted, and all funds go to enabling me to keep volunteering with these kids for as long as possible :)
