Hansen Family Camp Fire Victims

This is the story of The Hansen Family.
Amy, Dan and Danielle are long term residents of Paradise and lost everything in the Camp Fire. The burned out photo above is what remains of their home. They made it out with their cars, pets and a few important papers.

Amy is a lifelong resident of Paradise, and my bestie since we were 10. Amy, along with her parents and brother Greg, have been in my life since I was in 4th grade. Here are Amy and I in all of our awkwardness:
The thing to understand here, is the impact that Amy and her family had on my life.

I was a poor kid with a pretty rough home life. I spent a lot of time with Amy and her family and while I know now, that her parents totally understood my circumstances, I never once felt weird or treated like a charity case. I was just “one of the kids” piling in the car for one of their many family vacations or another sleepover at their house. Their unconditional love and kindness literally saved my life.

When Amy met and married Dan, I knew that the kind of love and caring personality she had, would blossom with him. They both just have that same “give you the shirt off their back” approach to life.

Together, they have served the town of Paradise selflessly and completely.  From Amy’s many years (I mean like 25+ or something like that) as Chairwoman of the Gold Nugget Days Queen Committee to Dan’s work on community issues and efforts, the Hansen family IS what Paradise is all about. Dan has a thriving business, North State Carpet Cleaning where he's lovingly known in the community as "Dan the Carpet Man." 

And then the Camp Fire came. Along with so many others, the Hansen’s as well as Amy’s mom (and my second mom) Roxy lost everything. So given everything they’ve been through and are about to face, this time
it’s Dan, Amy and Danielle who need the help. 

So it’s your turn Hansen’s. To get back all the love and care you’ve given to others over the years. For all the times you've put your own lives on hold to help someone else.

And since you helped me build my life all those years ago, the least I can do is get the word out to help you rebuild yours.
